Prison law and beyond

Serving a prison sentence is hard; serving a prison sentence when you are innocent can be much harder.
Many prisoners who maintain their innocence have been convicted of sexual offences and their refusal to acknowledge guilt may lead to them serving longer sentences.
In the community, ex-prisoners may face onerous conditions as a result of broad-based public safety measures that fail to take individual risk into account.

We aim to help people who find themselves in such a situation and advise on the following:

  • how to maintain innocence without necessarily jeopardising parole
  • how to deal with onerous licence conditions
  • release on temporary licence
  • prison adjudications
  • compliance with notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act 2003
